Street style bath - august 26

A great day with Simon from A1 Camera Club walking the streets of Bath, talking photography and making photographs.
Bath is a different vibe to Bristol. The much smaller city is beautiful and packed with tourists like sardines. It was a hot day too.
But style delivered in many forms. Thank you to everyone who let me take their photograph. Apologies to the pair lint rolling a pink cord bag, who really did not want to be photographed! It was a lovely scene of the care for the bag but hey ho.

The side alleyways were tricky for photographs as were the harsh shadows but colours really popped in the midday sun. I tried back button focus for the first time, looked at possible new cameras (very light for a few grand) and wondered how I’d do with an 85mm or a 40mm lens. Something to try.

I also set the white balance to a really warm tone, which Simon reminded me would be removed in raw. So maybe a warm mist filter is also on the shopping list?

Since my street photography workshop with Alex Daniel I’m conscious of not copying his style (as if anyone could!) I find myself trying to bring his warmth to the photographs and need to remember I’m here to capture people’s clothes and will find my own visual style to tell that story in time.
